Snow Hut Owner Timur Čerkez
Timur grew up in Sarajevo and was a ski racer before discovering his passion for ski tuning. Hisa family opened a ski shop in the Olympic Village after the XIV Olympic Games, which expanded quickly until the war forced us to put the business on hold. He joined the army and was wounded, leading him to flee to Southern France where he received a sponsorship to move to the USA, ending up in Colorado in 1994.
In Boulder, Colorado he honed his skill at the Original BSD ski shop. He quickly became one of the main tuners and tuned skis for the CU ski team, the US women’s team for 24hrs of Aspen, US women’s Freestyle team for the Nagano Olympics, and helped design the Rossignol Race plate. He also tuned skis for athletes like Tommy Moe, Jonny Moseley, Robb Gaffney, and Seth Morrison.
In 2013 he founded Snow-Hut, an authorized ski and snowboard service, with the goal of providing outstanding customer service and great tunes for all ski and snowboard equipment. He strongly believes that a great tune can be done only with a stone grinder, and the rest with a hand file and hot iron, and not with automated stone grinding machines, edge grinders or waxing machines. Because of the outstanding quality of his work, he quickly grew out of his garage into a small space where he continues to operate today. Come by for a visit!
